GL coil consists of cold rolled steel with an aluminized zinc coating. Galvalume steel is a zinc-aluminum alloy coated with 55% aluminum + 43.4% zinc + 1.6% silicon. The zinc-aluminum alloy coating provides excellent corrosion and heat resistance, reflectivity, and economy to the steel.
Substrate pretreatment
- Cleaning and degreasing: Alkaline solution to remove oil on the surface of the steel plate.
- Pickling: Hydrochloric acid to remove oxidized layer.
- Passivation: Chrome-free passivation.
Hot-dip aluminum-zinc plating
- Plating solution composition: aluminum 55%, zinc 43.4%, silicon 1.6% (.
- (Dip plating time: 3-15 seconds).
- Cooling: water quenching or air cooling to form dense Al-Zn-Si alloy layer.
Post-treatment and testing
- Surface treatment: oiling (to prevent rust) or chroming (to enhance the adhesion of subsequent coatings).
- Quality test: Coating weight, corrosion resistance (salt spray test), mechanical properties (tensile strength).
