Substrate Preparation
- Substrate: Cold rolled steel coil (usually SPCC, DC01 or similar grades).
- Thickness: Thickness ranges from 0.12 mm to 1.5 mm.
- Cleaning: Alkaline degreasing to remove oil and oxides.
Galvanized
- Hot Dip Galvanizing (HDG): Coils are dipped in molten zinc to form a protective layer of zinc-iron alloy.
- Electro Galvanizing (EG): An alternative method to using electrolysis to obtain a thinner, more uniform coating of zinc.
Pretreatment
- Chemical passivation: chromate or chromium-free treatment.
Coating (RAL 9003)
- Primer: A primer (e.g. epoxy or polyester primer) is applied first to improve adhesion and corrosion resistance.
