Prices of Aluminum-zinc Alloy Coated Steel

Aluminized zinc-coated steel is priced at 600-900 USD per tonne, which is higher than galvanized steel, but the weight and service life of GL steel are lighter, but GL steel is lighter and has a longer service life, making it more cost-effective for long-term projects. The aluminum zinc coated steel price is affected by the grade of substrate, coating, surface treatment, quantity purchased, and other factors. Aluminum-zinc Alloy Coated Steel Advantages and Applications

Aluminum-zinc Alloy Coated Steel combines the advantages of steel, zinc and aluminum, with a service life of up to 20-50 years, salt spray resistance of 2-6 times that of GI steel, and resistance to oxidation of up to 315°C (650°C in the short term), making it the metal of choice for medium corrosive environments where high temperature resistance is required. With a resistance to oxidation up to 315°C (short-term resistance up to 650°C), GL steel is the metal of choice for medium corrosive environments where high temperature resistance is required.

Advantages

Mechanical Properties: GL steel has high tensile and yield strengths and good ductility. Aluminum-zinc alloy coatings provide good wear, impact and temperature resistance.
Corrosion resistance: Aluminum-zinc alloy coated steel sheets have enhanced corrosion resistance and perform better in maritime climates, high temperatures or high humidity environments (coastal or industrial areas).
Durability: 20-50 years of service life.
Scratch resistance: Aluminum-zinc alloy coating increases the scratch resistance of the steel surface.
Aesthetics: Bright surface, silverware color, high aesthetics

Applications

Construction industry

  • Roofing and walling: industrial plants, logistics warehouses.
  • Ventilation ducts: high temperature resistant flue, air conditioning system.

Home Appliances and Automobiles

  • Oven/Microwave Oven Shell: High-temperature resistant baking environment.
  • Automobile exhaust pipe guard plate: resistance to high temperature oxidation and road salt corrosion.

Agriculture and Energy

  • Grain silo roof: moisture and corrosion resistant.
  • Solar racking: weather-resistant to match photovoltaic modules.

GL Aluminum-zinc Alloy Coated Steel FAQ

Aluminized zinc can be a cost-effective alternative to stainless steel in non-acidic/alkaline environments.

The composition of GI and GL coatings is different, so there are differences in mechanical properties, chemical properties, application scenarios and costs.

Solution: Spray zinc-rich paint (zinc content ≥92%) or epoxy primer to seal the cutting surface.

Improper surface treatment of the substrate, defective plating process, external mechanical damage, and environmental erosion can cause the coating to peel off or flake off the surface of the aluminum-zinc-plated steel plate. By selecting the right thickness of zinc plating according to the application environment and strictly following the production standards for zinc plating and processing, we can prevent the coating from peeling off prematurely.

In case of minor corrosion, you can use 120 grit sandpaper to remove the rust stains, then clean the surface and touch up the paint. In case of severe corrosion, it is necessary to remove the corroded area and replace it with a new aluminum-zinc coated sheet.
