What is Color Coated Steel?

Color coated steel is steel made from hot-rolled steel, cold-rolled steel, galvanized steel, or galvalume steel as a substrate, which is coated with one or more layers of organic paint and then baked and cured. In general, galvanized and galvalume steels are used as substrates to increase the corrosion resistance of the steel. (Pre-painted galvanized steel and pre-painted galvalume steel are commonly used).

1. Substrate preparation: Hot rolled sheet, cold rolled sheet or galvanized sheet is prepared according to the requirements, together with the raw material for coating and other auxiliary materials.
2. Pre-treatment: The pre-treatment of the color-coated sheet includes two steps: first to clean the steel to remove impurities, and then to increase the surface treatment’s roughness to improve the coating’s adhesion.
3. Coating: Choose the coating, determine the thickness, and then apply the coating to the surface of the steel plate by roller coating.
4. Curing: The coated steel is first heated for initial curing, and then heated at high temperature for curing.
5. Post-processing: The cooled color coated steel is tested for quality and then cut according to the need to complete the cutting.
6. Packaging: Wanzhi Steel’s coils and plates are packaged in standard export packaging.
