Profiled steel sheet is a type of building material serving decorative, structural support, and enclosure functions. They are typically made from steel sheets (including coated and pre-painted sheets) and processed into corrugated cross-sections through roll forming. Roofing and wall panels usually use color-coated steel as the base material, while floor slabs often use coated steel.

Profiled Steel Sheet Classification
Profiled steel sheets can be classified according to base material, surface structure, function, and other requirements.
Raw Material
Galvanized Steel Sheet
Advantages: High cost-effectiveness, provides basic rust protection. The zinc coating of galvanized steel sheet provides sacrificial anode protection at cut edges and scratches.
Applications: Enclosure structures for general industrial plants and temporary buildings.

Galvalume Steel Sheet
Composition of GL steel: 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, 1.6% silicon alloy coating.
Advantages: Corrosion resistance 2-6 times that of galvanized steel, excellent heat resistance (up to 315℃). Good edge protection.
Applications: Roofing and exterior walls of factory buildings requiring corrosion and heat resistance; high-end applications.
Aluminized Steel Sheet
Advantages: Coating of aluminized steel is an aluminum-silicon alloy. Excellent heat resistance (up to 650℃), strong resistance to sulfide corrosion. However, poor edge protection.
Applications: Parts, pipes, etc., requiring high temperature resistance.

Color-Coated Steel Sheet
Process: Applying an organic coating (PVC, PVDF, PE, SMP,HDP,etc.) to a galvanized or galvalume substrate.
Advantages: Combines the protection of the substrate with the aesthetics and weather resistance of the coating. A wide range of colors are available, offering added durability.
Applications: Roofs and walls of various public, commercial, and residential buildings, where aesthetics are paramount.

According to Structure
Profiled steel sheets have various cross-sectional shapes such as V-shaped, U-shaped, trapezoidal, or corrugated, which can increase out-of-plane moment of inertia and stiffness.
According to wave characteristics
- High-wave sheets: Wave height > 70mm. Large cross-sectional moment of inertia, extremely high load-bearing capacity and stiffness, suitable for large-span structures.
- Medium-wave sheets: Wave height 30mm – 70mm. More economical, the most widely used type.
- Low-wave sheets: Wave height ≤ 30mm. Aesthetically pleasing, but less stiff than high-wave and medium-wave sheets; used for wall cladding or interior decoration.
According to rib construction
- Open-type floor decking: Ribs are open, cross-section is trapezoidal or U-shaped, simple to process, low cost.
- Closed-type floor decking: Ribs are closed, cross-section is closed box shape, good horizontal shear resistance and fire resistance, but higher cost.
- Reduced-rib type floor decking: Ribs are narrowed, combining the advantages of open and closed types, more economical.
Classification by Connection Method
- Overlapping Boards:Directly fixed to the purlins with self-tapping screws; simple connection.
- Interlocking Boards:Adjacent boards are mechanically interlocked to form a continuous, waterproof roof system. 360° standing seam systems represent the highest level, solving thermal expansion and contraction issues and suitable for large-span buildings with high wind pressure.
Function
Structural Support:Serves as permanent formwork and reinforcing steel, working with concrete to form composite floor slabs.
Enclosure and Decoration:Acts as the “skin” of the building, providing enclosure, waterproofing, and decoration. Corrugated boards are preferred and are often combined with insulation materials.
Special Function Boards:Through special design or composite materials, meet specific physical performance requirements, such as fireproof boards, thermal insulation boards, antistatic boards, and antibacterial boards.
