Folding Container House - Production and Uses

Structure and Design Principles

Folding container house utilize hinges, latches, or hydraulic systems to quickly fold and unfold, ensuring a stable structure when unfolded and smooth folding.

Frame System

  • Main Beams and Columns: High-strength galvanized steel is welded or bolted together to create a stable, load-bearing structure.
Walls and Roof

  • Exterior Wall Panels: Typically, painted galvanized steel sandwich panels (such as 50mm thick rock wool sandwich panels) or gypsum board, metal sheeting, or PVC boarding are used.
Floor System

  • Base Frame: Integrated with the frame, constructed from U-shaped steel or channel steel, galvanized or spray-coated with anti-corrosion paint.
  • Flooring: Flooring/Glass magnesium board/or other decorative flooring
  • Adjustable legs: Fold to support the cabinet and unfold to adjust the levelness to accommodate uneven floors.
Interior Layout

  • Doors, windows, interior structure, functional areas, electrical systems, water systems, air conditioning holes, etc. are all fully equipped.

Multi-Unit Folding Container House

As the smallest unit, a folding container house can be combined to combine the efficient transportation advantages of folding containers with larger space requirements or more complex building functions, improving space utilization and achieving functional diversity. Common combinations include townhouses and double-deck structures. Wanzhi Group can design and manufacture the structure to meet your application needs.

Townhouse House

Multiple folding container units are tightly connected horizontally to form a long row or enclosed continuous space. These can be used for large-scale construction site camps (with worker dormitories, offices, canteens, and restrooms), post-disaster emergency resettlement communities, modular student dormitories, staff apartments, temporary commercial streets, market stalls, and more.

Core Advantages:

  • Ultra-high space efficiency and cost savings
  • Extreme transportation and rapid deployment
  • Uniformity and standardization
  • Flexible expansion

Double-deck House

Folding container units are stacked vertically (usually two layers) to form a small building. The bottom layer requires special reinforcement to withstand the load of the upper layer. It can be used as a temporary urban commercial center, dormitories and offices at land-constrained construction sites, compact hotels or guesthouses in scenic areas, transitional communities requiring high-density resettlement in emergencies, and field research and monitoring stations.

Core Advantages:

  • Double land utilization
  • Clear functional zoning
  • Maintaining transportation advantages

Advantages of Folding Container House

Significantly Reduced Size: When folded, the small footprint makes it easy to transport and carry, making it ideal for long-distance or large-volume transportation.
Quick Deployment: The unfolding process is relatively simple and quick (usually requiring a crane or forklift), eliminating the need for on-site assembly.
High Space Utilization: When unfolded, it offers standard container sizes (such as 20-foot and 40-foot) or customizable interior space. Furthermore, multiple container houses can be expanded horizontally or stacked vertically for combined use.
Durability: The galvanized steel frame provides excellent strength, wind and earthquake resistance, load-bearing capacity, and corrosion resistance.
Reusability: A single container house can be relocated as a whole and can be folded and expanded repeatedly. When not in use, it can be folded and stacked, taking up minimal warehouse or site space.

Applications of Folding Container House

As temporary and mobile structures, folding container houses are widely used as affordable or transitional housing options in emergency and disaster relief, commercial and retail, and remote facilities.
