Pre-Painted galvalume sheet is made of aluminized zinc alloy steel sheet (Galvalume) as a substrate (typical composition 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, 1.6% silicon), which is subjected to rigorous surface cleaning (degreasing, chemical conversion) and then coated with high-performance organic coatings (polyester, silicone-modified polyester, high weathering polyester, fluorocarbon, etc.) on the front and back side continuously and baked and cured to form a composite material. The composite material is baked and cured.

Physical and Chemical Properties
Corrosion Resistance
- Aluminum forms a dense oxide film to resist corrosive media, zinc provides sacrificial anode protection, and the organic coating forms a physical barrier to enhance the corrosion resistance of the pre-painted galvalume.
Heat and High Temperature Resistance
- Aluminized zinc substrates can withstand temperatures up to 315°C for a long period of time. Organic coatings have their upper limit of heat resistance: PE/SMP about 120°C, PVDF about 150°C, PPGL steel weathering class: PVDF > SMP > PE.
Salt Mist Resistance
- GL steel sheet can be used in salt mist test for more than 1000 hours without red rust. Coated GL steel has higher salt spray resistance.
Weatherability and color retention
- The service life of the coating is 8-30 years for different materials.
Formability
- The strength of the galvalume sheet and the flexibility of the coating determine the formability of the sheet. DX51D/DX53D and PE coatings are suitable for most cold bending and roll forming applications. Higher strength steels require larger bend radii or special molds.
Thermal Reflectivity (Cool Roof)
- Light-colored (especially white) coated PPGL sheets with high solar reflectivity (SR) and thermal emittance (Em) significantly lower roof temperatures and reduce building energy consumption.

A: There is no fundamental difference. “Pre Painted” and “Prepainted” are different ways of writing the same term. At their core, they both refer to painted galvalume steel sheets.
