Galvalume coated steel is steel coated with an aluminum-zinc alloy containing approximately 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. It offers excellent corrosion resistance, durability, and heat resistance, making it suitable for roofing, wall cladding, construction, and industrial applications. Wanzhi Group supplies galvalume steel coils, sheets, roofing sheets, and profiles in various specifications with coating weights of AZ30–AZ150 g/m².
- Thickness: 0.12 mm – 4.0 mm
- Width: 600 mm – 1,500 mm
- Standard: EN, ASTM, JIS, GB
- Steel Grades: DX51D, DX52D, DX53D, S220GD, S250GD, S280GD, S320GD, S350GD, etc.

What Is Galvalume Coated Steel?
Galvalume steel is produced by continuously hot-dip coating a steel substrate with an aluminum-zinc alloy. The coating typically contains approximately 55% aluminum, 43.4% zinc, and 1.6% silicon. The resulting coating provides excellent corrosion and heat resistance. Aluminum forms a protective barrier, while zinc provides sacrificial protection to the steel substrate. Silicon helps control the coating–steel interface and the formation of the coating during the hot-dip process.

- Common grades include DX51D, DX52D, DX53D, S220GD, S250GD, S280GD, S320GD, and S350GD, depending on forming and structural requirements.
- Common international standards include ASTM A792/A792M, EN 10346, and JIS G3321.

Galvalume Steel Substrate Chemical Composition
The chemical composition above is based on the steel substrate requirements of EN 10346:2015 for continuously hot-dip coated steel flat products. The listed values are maximum limits by mass. DX51D, DX52D, and DX53D are cold-forming steel grades, while S220GD to S350GD are structural steel grades. The “+AZ” designation indicates an aluminum-zinc coating, while the steel grade defines the properties of the substrate.

Galvalume Coated Steel vs Galvanized Steel
Galvalume steel offers strong corrosion and heat resistance through its aluminum-zinc alloy coating. Galvanized steel provides reliable sacrificial protection through its zinc coating. Galvalume is often preferred for roofing and cladding, while galvanized steel remains widely used in construction and industrial applications.
| Item | Galvalume Steel | Galvanized Steel |
| Coating | Aluminum-zinc alloy (Al-Zn-Si) | Mainly Zinc (Zn) |
| Corrosion Resistance | Excellent barrier and sacrificial protection | Excellent sacrificial protection |
| Heat Resistance | Higher | Lower |
| Weldability | Good | Good |
| Service Life | Generally longer | Long-lasting |
